The Dingle Way leads right into Annascaul Village from Camp via the beautiful Inch beach. The diversity of different landscapes is the why the Dingle Way is one of the most popular trail trails in Ireland. It is traditionally walked in a clockwise direction starting in Tralee, but a lot people opt to take a bus to Camp and start from there. Visit www.dingleway.com for a complete trail description
Inch Beach by night
Inch Beach is one of the most picturesque beaches on the Dingle Peninsula in Co.Kerry and is a really beautifull place to learn to surf. It is a blue flag beach that runs literally for miles. Three miles of sandy beach, for bathing, surfing, sea angling. Inch Strand was chosen by David Lean as the beach location for “Ryan’s Daughter”. The film “Playboy of the Western World” was shot entirely at Inch.
Inch is roughly 30 minutes from both Dingle and Killarney and 45 mins from Tralee, But more importantly only a 5 minute drive from Annascaul.
Its still early in the season so I decided to take advantage of the bright sunny morning and head to Inch beach for a walk. Beata kindly offered to cook breakfast and look after our 8 guests. The road behind our house leads up the ‘Maum’ (meaning mountain pass) as its known locally and down the winding roads to Inch. I love walking this way because my own grandfather was born in a small cottage on the top of the hill, and often think this is what he would have spent his youth doing. The walk takes about 45 – 50 minutes from Annascaul Village to Greenes Cafe Bistro at the Old Strand Hotel at Inch.
