Annascaul Black Pudding is an artisan homemade black pudding. The Irish black pudding was first made when Ashe’s shop was established in Annascaul in 1916.
The original black pudding recipe has been handed down through three generations of the Ashe family. Continuing in that tradition, Annascaul Black Pudding is handmade by Thomas Ashe on the Dingle Peninsula in County Kerry.
It is a unique Irish black pudding, is high in iron, contains no artificial additives or preservatives and is low in fat.
Annascaul Black Pudding is renowned for its’ smoothness of texture, rich flavour and high nutritional values. Its’ versatility makes it an ideal element of many meals such as the traditional Irish breakfast, a delicious snack served on crostini with spicy chutney, canapés of black pudding and rhubarb pastries, black pudding lasagne etc. For such reasons Annascaul Black Pudding is the preferred choice for many of Ireland’s best known chefs.
White pudding, dry-cured Rashers and home made traditional pork sausages complement the black pudding. They are also made by hand, using only the highest quality Irish ingredients. Our sausages have half of the fat of competing sausages, are very high in meat content and are described by John McKenna as “peppery, porky perfection”. The rashers are dry cured by hand and are thick-cut.
Our newest family member is our pork and black pudding sausage. It is a great marriage of pork and black pudding.
